Does power really corrupts?

Is it a question of a chance presenting itself for corruption to thrive or what? But also what is the drive or motivator? What is the thinking of the corrupt before, during and after the act? Is corruption an event or a process? Are good people corrupts or not? Who is most prone to corruption the rich or poor, good or bad, women or men, religious or non-religious….?
In July 2015, the US President Mr. Barack Obama made an historical visit to Kenya and Ethiopia. By coincidence his visit came when Burundi and South Sudan were engulfed in a horrific tug of war. During his address to African Union at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, the US president remarked:
Do informal groups help or inhibit business success? This may be a question that the business and management practitioners and scholars have to scratch their heads to accommodate. But is it really an issue worthy ‘wasting’ or ‘spending’ company’s resources pondering over? Should the organizational leadership incorporate informal groups as a bridge to achieve business success?
